  • Overview

     

    Summary of Duties:

    • Responsible for identifying, documenting and collecting outstanding private pay balances and understanding insurance claim submissions and how they relate to private pay balances due.

     

    Supervision Received:

    • Reports to Collections Manager

    Responsibilities

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Performs various collection functions including (but not limited to) contacting residents, nursing facility personnel and financially responsible parties via telephone, fax, email or mail. These actions are in conjunction with working an aging of outstanding balances to resolution; with emphasis on:
      • Insurance coverage
      • Insurance claim rejections
      • Prescriptions dispensed
    • Prepares and submits Estate Claims
    • Prepares and sends Collections Letters
    • Processes Claim Adjustments
    • Processes credit card payments
    • Participates in educational activities and attends staff meetings
    • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA and PHI (Protected Health
    • Information) guidelines/regulations.

    Qualifications

    Education: High School Diploma or GED

     

    Skills/Experience:

    • Minimum two (2) years experience in pharmacy or medical collections and knowledge of pharmacy or medical billing
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
    • Knowledge of third-party operating procedures and practices
    • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Knowledge of general business office procedures
    • Knowledge of and ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
    • Ability to professionally interact via telephone with inside and outside customers
    • Ability to call customers and request payment in a businesslike, pleasant manner
    • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, employees and the public
    • Must be well organized, detail-oriented and able to concentrate in a busy work environment
    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language
