Overview

Responsible for maintaining and operating production equipment to optimize availability, quality and speed inclusive of both mechanical and electrical subsystems. 

 

Responsible for Electro Mechanics and works closely together with Operations Manager and Production Supervisors to help direct operation of the Dispensing Systems.

 

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical equipment, conveyors, PLCs, robots, vision systems and computer controlled devices,

 

Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting production issues while minimizing downtime.  Effectively communicate requirements and status to production operations team. 

 

Work independently to perform preventative maintenance following written schedules and procedures.  

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include maintenance of production equipment:

 

  1. Maintain and/or improve system performance to design specifications.
  2. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on dispensing and unit dose packaging equipment within priorities and on time.
  3. Operate Dispensing Systems and perform Shift Lead duties, ensuring that the System is operated as designed and runs are completed on time.
  4. Troubleshoot system issues and take corrective actions independently, while minimizing production downtime.  Highlight system issues for permanent corrective actions and process improvements.
  5. Requisition repair materials, machine components and parts. Maintain and organize spare parts inventory.
  6. Responsible for assembly and testing of various mechanical devices and complete systems according to blueprints, written or verbal specifications with minimal supervision.  Documentation and/ or specifications may be ambiguous.
  7. Define training and preventive maintenance programs to optimize and maintain equipment.
  8. Use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, calibrations and spare parts.
    1. Monitor spare part usage
    2. Order spare parts to ensure proper inventory levels
  9. Training
    1. Train production operators/ employees/EM’s as appropriate for set-ups, operation of all equipment, etc.
    2. Review and provide constructive feedback for shift passdowns and completed work orders.
  10. Normal work schedule is Day shift Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend support will be required for project implementation and issue resolution.  Supervising Engineer will also be one of the employees in the Paxit support on-call rotation with primary on-call support responsibilities for one week every 4-6 weeks
  11. Provide scheduling and coordinate coverage for Electro Mechanic vacations
  12. Responsible for safety compliance personally and with equipment.
  13. Coordinates and participates in special projects and/or rebuilds.
  14. Liaison between Remedi and outside contractors for HVAC, Generator and Air Compressor systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Packaging Engineering, or related Engineering field (Chemical, etc.)
  • Experience in operations and product management is a plus
  • 3-6 years of electro-mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in use of power tools/ measuring devices 
  • Basic background in general machine shop practices and Experience with 220V power
  • Project management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Proficient using all manual machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, hand tools etc.
  • Able to read drawings and schematics
  • Able to adapt to changing conditions
